Spread some hope and joy

The Wall of Hope and Joy is round the corner and the adrenalin is high at The Akshaya Patra Foundation. Bringing back the much enjoyed photography exhibition for the second time, the folks at the Foundation are looking forward to an even bigger turn out to this event than last time.

Scheduled for the 19th and 20th of April 2014 at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore between 10am and 7pm, this exhibition will showcase some mind boggling photography that beautifully captures both the mission and vision of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, in a way that even words cannot describe. The event will be inaugurated by Mr D K Chowta, General Secretary of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath.

Capturing phenomenal imagery of the young children hard at their studies, playing out in the sun, filling their bellies on the tasty mid-day meal, or just being by themselves, the exhibition gives the observer a unique insight into the different thoughts and moods of these individuals. The exhibition also showcases with wonderful detail and clarity the entire scale of Akshaya Patra’s extensive operation processes.

Titled ‘A Belly Full of Fun’, ‘As You Like It’, ‘Chasing Dreams’, ‘Moments under a Hopeful Sky’, and ‘Feeding 1.3 Million Children EveryDay’, this exhibition is a wonderful, holistic introduction to The Akshaya Patra Foundation, that shouldn’t be missed. The exhibition will also showcase the best entries of the recently concluded ‘Click a Smile’ photography contest, which had over 700 entries from the international and intergenerational segments.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is an NGO that provides the mid-day meal to over 1.3 million children across 10,631 government schools in India. Started in 2000, the kitchen today runs 22 kitchens across the country with the intention of opening many more over the years to come. The Foundation believes that no child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger. To fulfill this vision, The Akshaya Patra Foundation provides ‘Food for Education’ and aims to feed 5 million children by 2020.
