Campaign by Akshaya Patra towards supporting mid-day meal scheme in Hyderabad

Akshaya Patra is a NGO implementing the mid day meal scheme in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Apart from these two locations it implements the programme in 18 more locations across eight other states. During the recent Joy of Giving Week, the Foundation’s Hyderabad branch organised a campaign titled 'A student for a student'. The main aim was to create awareness and raise fund for the beneficiaries of mid day meal.

The campaign was received with open arms by Indus International School, Hyderabad (IISH). This school welcomed the campaign of the non-profit for children as a part of their social initiative programme INSIGNIA. The effort of the students of Standard XI was evident in the sum of Rs. 90,000 that was collected in one single day.

his amount will help the Foundation to feed about 120 beneficiaries of mid-day meal. Speaking during the campaign the Principal of Indus International School, Omkar Joshi pointed out the need and importance of socially vigilant youth. He also talked about the school’s curriculum that involves social initiatives in order to mould the students into multidimensional and responsible citizens.

Along with feeding 54,849 children from 454 Government by implementing the mid day meal scheme in Hyderabad, Akshaya Patra feeds a total of 60,098 beneficiaries across the state of Andhra Pradesh.
